The Seed: On "Amor Fati"

March 1, 2025 · Jay Sueno

A weekly invitation to transform from the inside out.

I. THE SEED (THE IDEA)

Nothing has gone wrong.

Most people try to change their lives by changing their circumstances.

But the deeper shift happens when you change your relationship to your circumstances.

Not “Why is this happening to me?”
But: “What if this is exactly what I needed to grow?”

What if nothing in your life is wrong — it’s just unfinished?

II. THE SOIL (GO DEEPER)

In the movie, Good Will Hunting, there’s a moment when Robin Williams’ character looks at Will and says:

“You’re just a kid. You don’t have the faintest idea what you’re talking about.”

He’s not trying to shame him. He’s inviting him to see something he’s not yet ready to see:

That the wounds we run from are often the ones that shape us the most.

And the pain we want to erase is sometimes the very thing that cracks us open.

No challenge, no mistake, no heartbreak you’ve faced is meaningless. If you stay with it — stay open — it becomes fuel.

III. THE ROOT (JOURNAL PROMPT)

What part of my past have I been fighting… and what might happen if I welcomed it instead?

Until next week,
